Chiromassage is a hands-on massage technique that soothes pain, stretches soft tissues and stimulates blood and lymphatic circulation, as well as providing numerous physical and mental benefits.

What is chiromassage?

Chiromassage is a form of manual massage that consists of kneading, rubbing and tapping the superficial parts of the body with the hands.

By exerting pressure on an area of the body where the patient feels pain, a reflex response is produced that allows the pain to be relieved.

What types of chiromassage are there?

There is a great variety of techniques within therapeutic massage or chiromassage.

  • Friction or slippage

It consists of gently, slowly and evenly rubbing the area of the body where the treatment is applied.

It is recommended when seeking to improve blood circulation and increase skin regeneration.

  • Friction

The therapist uses his or her fingertips to apply controlled pressure using very brief movements.

Friction increases blood flow to the treated area, separates the tissues preventing adhesions from forming and has an analgesic effect.

  • Compression

As its name indicates, pressure is exerted on the area, this pressure is performed between periods of thirty seconds and one minute.

The objective is to decrease local inflammation and increase drainage of the lymphatic tissues.

  • Percussion

Percussion is a vigorous technique, and there are basically two types: tapping (small taps on the treated area) and pounding (tapping the body gently with the edge of the hand).

Percussion is used to increase blood flow to the area, stimulate the patient due to its energetic nature and increase muscle tone.

  • Kneading

In the kneading technique, energetic movements are performed rhythmically that detach the deep tissues from the more superficial ones and displace the muscle fibers.

It is used to facilitate muscle nutrition, relax muscle tissues and promote the elimination of waste substances.

  • Vibration

The vibratory massage consists of very fast and short movements, with a lot of vigor.

The vibration they produce relaxes the muscle, stimulates blood circulation and stimulates the contractile capacity of the muscle fibers.
